“The Great Gatsby” is a classic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, published in 1925. It tells the story of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious and wealthy man who lives in a huge mansion in West Egg, Long Island, in the 1920s. Gatsby is in love with Daisy Buchanan, a beautiful and married woman who lives across the bay in East Egg, a more fashionable and aristocratic area. Gatsby throws lavish parties every weekend, hoping to attract Daisy’s attention and win her back. He also befriends Nick Carraway, Daisy’s cousin and the narrator of the novel, who rents a small house next to Gatsby’s.
Themes in “The Great Gatsby”
The novel explores themes such as the American dream, social class, love, betrayal, and corruption in the Jazz Age, a period of cultural and artistic flourishing after World War I. The novel also depicts the contrast between the old money and the new money, the East and the West, and the past and the present. The novel is famous for its lyrical and poetic style, its symbolism, and its memorable characters.

“The Great Gatsby” movie adaptations
